I know I’ve been MIA again for more than a month. I think my nesting instinct decided to extend. 😛
This post was in my draft for weeks. I was supposed to publish it after delivery, but I didn’t expect that I would become a zombie. I’m always awake at night and every time I try to open my laptop, my son always finds a way to get my attention.
My husband is babysitting our son now, so I have time to open my blog and well, made some changes to it.
MY LABOR AND DELIVERY STORY
Hello, hello for reaching Week 38!
I’m delighted to announce that my stay permit was finally released after 6 months. Whew! It is one of the requirements in order to get a birth certificate for the baby. Getting my stay permit is only the first part, I had to go to two more places to get stamps for both my passport and permit. Fortunately, everything went smooth and I finished the whole thing in one day. Imagine I had to walk and wait knowing that anytime from now I can go into labor. 🤢
The sky was still covered with grey clouds when I asked my husband to go for a walk. Walking really helps a lot with the delivery. I also did a lot of third trimester low-cardio exercises at home.
Around 09:45 pm, I noticed a light red stain on my pantyliner with some mucus. I knew then my mucus plug fell off. I told my husband about it and we double checked the things and documents that we need to bring to the hospital.
MARCH 28, 2018
12:45 am: While watching my new favorite Korean series, Black, my bag of water broke and we went to the hospital immediately. I was nervous and excited the whole time we were driving there.
01:15 am: I was admitted and put in the labor room to be monitored. Minor contractions started every 5 minutes and I was already 3 to 4 cm.
I stayed in the labor room with my husband and I was able to handle the contractions until around 4:00 am. It became so intense that I had the urge to push with every contraction. The only time the midwife went into the labor room was when she put me there, so I told my husband to call her because I really have the feeling of pushing my son out.
I was already 9 cm when she did the internal examination. The midwife and her assistant were really calm and assured me that I was doing a great job.
04:52 am: I gave birth to a healthy baby boy and we named him Nikolaj.
